Nearly every time we engage with a new or prospective client, we find ourselves speaking to the impetus and significance behind the name R4. It’s a question that lends itself to a perfect icebreaker and one that we never tire of hearing. R4 not only represents the four Rs associated with strategic communications – Relevance, Reputation, Respect and Results, it’s also an homage to what keeps our founder Meghan Risch grounded – her family of four.
Meghan is the Founder & Principal of R4 Communications Strategies, Inc., a strategic communications firm focused on the travel and tourism industry. An executive-level public relations/communications professional with more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality, economic development, and travel and tourism industries, she launched R4 Communications Strategies, Inc. in April 2016.
Prior to launching R4, Meghan spent 12 years with Choose Chicago, Chicago’s destination marketing organization, leading the communications strategy to support its mission of securing regional, national and international business and leisure visitation for the economic benefit of the city, the community and its membership. In 2015, as a result of the Illinois budget impasse, the State of Illinois froze Choose Chicago’s critical funding.
Meghan worked closely with the organization’s public policy team advocating for the importance of continued investment. Specifically, she led the communications effort with a six-month advocacy campaign that ultimately resulted in the restoration of $12 million in statutorily mandated funding for Choose Chicago.
Before she realized that travel is the only thing one can buy that makes them richer, she held senior public relations positions with Hyatt Hotels Corporation and World Business Chicago, Chicago’s economic development organization.
